I like the emo kid! Do you use a pen tablet when you draw in Photoshop? I see you've studied illustration- what is the most important thing that you think you learned from doing illustration that you wouldn't have learned if you studied graphic design? Do you think it's possible to study graphic design in order to be an illustrator?
Hi eva, i'm not really sure how to answer your question as i don't feel i got a lot out of my illustration course.
From what i gathered graphic design was more about creating a packaged identity for the client that sells the product through an interesting and suitable idea. With illustration it was very idea based aswell and focused more on conveying a specific message or story through the artists own style. I know graphic designers that are excellent illustrator and illustrators that have a natural talent for layouts and design. With illustration clients want a consistent art style so they know what the artwork produced will look like, as a graphic design you have to learn to be more adaptable to suit the clients needs.
Has that helped at all? And yes, i did used a tablet to make these, normally i just draw traditional but i feel i'm letting my digital skills fade! Arg, too many skills to keep up with! :D
